Blip DocsOptimization focus & anomaly detection
Tell Blip what 'good' looks like so its recommendations and alerts fit your account.
Before diving into charts, set up your optimization focus. It's the foundation of the Analytics section — it informs Blip's budget recommendations and shapes several reports. Click the Optimization focus button at the top of the Analytics page to begin.
Choose your focus: CPA or ROAS
- CPA — for non-ecommerce events like leads or subscribes.
- Return on ad spend (ROAS) — for ecommerce advertisers.
After choosing, set your target KPI: either a benchmark target CPA number or a benchmark target ROAS number. This target informs Blip's budget recommendations and several other reports in the Analytics tab.
Anomaly detection & Slack alerts
Inside the same optimization focus popup, you can set up anomaly detection. Connect a specific Slack channel to get notified when CPA spikes or overspend is detected in your ad account.
You define the thresholds:
- A CPA spike threshold percentage
- An overspend threshold percentage
When daily spend or CPA exceeds the percentage you set, Blip alerts you in Slack — so you catch costly issues before they grow.
Setting an accurate target CPA or ROAS is what makes Blip's recommendations trustworthy. Use a realistic account benchmark, not an aspirational one.
